On Monday, November 28, come to a discussion with Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, the leader of the Belarusian opposition, about freedom, dictators and the fight for democracy. We are organizing an event together with friends from Forum Apulum and in partnership with the University of Bucharest, at the "Ioan Mihăilescu" Amphitheater of the Rectorate (Șoseaua Panduri, no. 90), starting at 5:00 p.m. If you are a student, teacher, activist or journalist, participate in the conference "On revolution and democratic change: A debate with Svetlana Tikhanovskaya" by completing the registration form. Having become a symbol of the peaceful struggle for democracy and female leadership, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya was nominated in 2020 by Lithuanian President Nauseda and Norwegian parliamentarians for the Nobel Peace Prize. Moreover, she campaigned for the release of over 500 political prisoners and for peaceful change through elections...
The associations Declic and Funky Citizens ask President Klaus Iohannis not to promulgate the Laws of Justice before the expert opinion of the Venice Commission, expected next week. Otherwise, with a critical opinion and the promulgated laws, Romania risks staying with the Monitoring and Verification Mechanism and losing the chance to enter Schengen. Following civil society's discussions with representatives of the Venice Commission, it emerged that the experts' opinion on the 3 Laws of Justice will be published quickly, in November. The CCR drew the legislator's responsibility to bring the laws into line with the requests of the MCV and the Venice Commission. Precisely for this reason, it is essential that the President of Romania waits for the opinion of the experts, before deciding whether to promulgate the laws or return them...

Funky Citizens. Making things right since 2012.
The grit to go on. ❤️
