Motivation
Starting from the need identified in our society to know more about how the state works and what good activism is, Funky Citizens develops the www.educatiecivica.roplatform, a civic encyclopedia, open source, useful for any age. We aim to educate and invite to action, encouraging participation in accountability initiatives in the public space. We speak the language of young people and bring from the abstract into the concrete and from the boring to the provocative everything related to democracy and involvement.
Goals
We come to the aid of teachers and students with a series of tools to support the civic education curriculum, which explains to everyone, in a funky and colorful way, the dry terms and gloomy concepts related to the legislative-civic universe. In parallel with testing and improving these methods of teaching civic education, within the same project, we will organize guided tours with students and teachers to the main public institutions to create an interactive bridge between theory and practice. Having the experience of organizing a civic education camp attended by 60 young people aged 13-18, we aim to test in the first year of the project with at least 10 groups of students from across the country, a variety of educational tools such as: visits to public institutions, learning through play (quiz with questions about democracy, institutions, personalities, principles, laws, etc.), simulation games (simulation of an electoral process, creation of parties, political programs, campaigns or simulation of a trial), journalism exercises, etc. We aim to apply the materials developed to as many school groups as possible in the future, after improving the methods.
